Magician Rick Eugene returns to Musser Library with a magic show for the whole family on Thanksgiving Weekend.
Saturday, December 17 at 11 am... Santa!
Santa will be in attendance again this year at our Holiday Storytime for true believers! We'll enjoy stories and songs, then have time to visit with the Jolly Old Elf. Bring your cameras for this one.
Saturday, January 14 from 1-4 pm... 1001 Nights!
Mark your calendars now... our annual winter extravaganza features the Thousand and One Nights this year! This is the one time we require you to come get free tickets before attending the program. Check with the Musser Library in December about how to get free tickets.
Saturday, February 11 at 11 am... Valentines for Teachers
We love to help kids make valentines for their teachers! And then the library delivers them to the schools with a chocolate kiss on Valentine's Day. As long as you attend school in the Muscatine Community School district, we'll get your valentine there on time, with a candy kiss. We provide the supplies to make the valentines, you supply the creativity.

Saturday, April 14 at 11 am... Titanic!
Yes! It's the 100th anniversary of the Titanic's close encounter with the iceberg! We won't exactly say "celebrate," but come commemorate that event with us on the big day.

Saturday, September 18 at 11 am... "Take Flight"with the Iowa Children's Museum.
Join us for an hour of flight-related hands-on activities with the Iowa Children's Museum staff, including paper airplanes. Located in the library's upstairs meeting room.
Saturday, October 16 at 11 am... "Creations with a Twist" balloon storytelling.
Balloon artist Daniel Poe will tell Halloween stories utilizing his unique balloon creations. Kids may come in costume if they wish.
Saturday, November 20 at 11 am... "Eat Your Way Through Africa."
Michelle Poe from the African American Museum of Cedar Rapids will lead kids through that continent bite by bite.
Saturday, January 15, 2011, at 1 and 1:30 pm... The Stanley Foundation Earth Balloon.
Meet at the Library at 1 and again at 1:30 to go next door to the MCSA gym and tour the Stanley Foundation's incredible giant inflatable globe! Go inside the globe and view the earth from a completely different perspective!

by learning about Buxton, Iowa...
and
stay to decorate a canvas
for the Muscatine Mosaic Project. We'll supply the materials, you supply the creativity. Decorate a canvas to honor African American history, or come up with a design all your own. All ages are welcome at this event, but small children will need adult help to decorate a canvas.
Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 10 am... Preschool Demonstration, sponsored by the Muscatine Community School District
If you would like to know what a day in preschool looks like in our school district, come watch a sample class taught by teacher Kathi Eichelberger. If you have a young child who would like to experience the class, bring him or her with you and let them be part of the demo! This program lasts from 10 am to noon.
Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 11 am... Mud Madness!
We'll be using stencils to make mud prints on the sidewalk outside the library! Dress to get some dirt on your clothes, and come to have fun.
This is a fair weather event only... in case of rain, it will not take place, unfortunately. If you are in doubt about the weather, call the library at 263-3065.
Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 11 am... Salley Mavor-style May Baskets!
Salley Mavor is an incredible seamstress and artist whose work is on display at the Muscatine Art Center. She illustrates picture books with detailed and appealing fabric illustrations. Come to the library to revive the American tradition of May Baskets, including a Salley Mavor-style fairy figure to put inside.
