Mother Daughter Book Club

When children are able to read on their own, it doesn't mean they don't still need the special bond that comes from sharing books together.  In this Book Club, moms and daughters can meet to see their friends, enjoy food and activities, and talk about the book of the month.  While this group focuses on the fun of being together, it also aims to be the kind of place where Tweens can think about what is important to them and moms can connect with their girls.

Betsy Byars has written a laugh-out-loud, yell-out-loud book about what it means to feel the call of the wild, among other things! Join Julie and Shelley for fun projects, snacks, and discussion, even if you haven't had a chance yet to read the book.

                      

Tuesday, October 12 at 6:30 pm... Nikki and Deja.

Nikki and Deja do everything together... until the new girl moves into town. Can they stay friends? Can they count on each other? Shelley and Julie will help girls and moms explore the book and have fun, including trying a line dance.

                   


Tuesday, November 9 at 6:30 pm... The Hundred Dresses.

A classic story by Eleanor Estes, all about having (or not having) the right stuff to wear... and does that matter? Girls can read this book today and know just what the main character feels. Moms--even grandmas--may have read this book growing up and known equally well then.

Emily Windsnap discovers her family history is more complicated than she realized! But will she be able to figure out a way to deal with all of it?

Another old favorite Mom or Grandma may have loved, about four children, alone and living in an old boxcar. Come make Hobo Soup and talk about the things you like best in this classic story.

This wonderful and interesting book features all sorts of everyday delights, in words and pictures. Come make a book of your own that shows all the little things you love about your life.
